Social media: an ally or an enemy?

There's no denying that social media apps are really important nowadays. Almost everyone uses at least one, most of us more than one. Just a few percentage of the population are not familiar with social media, either because they are older or simply because they don't like it and think it's not for them.

While we can't deny that social media comes with a lot of disadvantages or things that could end up not being really good for us, we can use social media as a tool to help us learn or improve English, only if used well. There are different apps that allows us to communicate with other people, for example Twitter, and while a lot of languages are spoken on this platform, English is the most used one. So, we can definitely use this to our advantage! We can search for things that are of our interest on Twitter (movies, music, series...) and talk about them with other people, and to do this, we would probably use English in most of the cases.

There are other apps that are specifically designed to learn languages (I'm sure most of you are familiar with Duolingo for example) but this type of apps have more of a "study and learn" structure, so a lot of people might get tired of them easily. However, with apps like Twitter, using English (or any other language that you are learning) is seen as something that you are doing for fun, because you want to do it because you are interested in that. Therefore this might be you chance to do this if you have never tried it! If you are interested in something and you want to practice your English at the same time, join Twitter, create your account and start improving your English. It might be a bit more difficult at first, but with some practice and a bit of time, it will be a lot easier for you.

So, if you had to say one, what would social media be for you? And ally? Or and enemy?
