What makes a good teacher? Can you learn how to be a good teacher? Or are just some people born with it? I think that this is a question that a lot of people, or at least people who want to become teachers some day or are already working as a teacher, have asked themselves these same questions, at least once.
I think that being a good teacher is something that teachers learn throughout their years teaching. Of course some people may find it easier than others, but I think that it's not something that you wake up one day and suddenly go "Oh, I know how to be a good teacher!". I think this needs practice, a lot of patience, and most of all, the capacity of the teacher to adapt to each class or student needs. A teacher can have one method that is very good for one class and think that he or she is a good teacher but if that doesn't work for others classes .or students and the teacher doesn't want to do something about it, maybe he or she is not a good teacher after all.
For me, a good teacher is someone that understands the students and .what motivates them, someone who wants to help them, who has empathy and patience and also has good skills in communication, listening... And while this is something that I hope I can have one day, I know it's going to take time a lot of practice, but I'm on my way!
And what about you? What do you think makes a good teacher?
